A holiday message from Superintendent Dr. William B. James Jr.

The holiday season is here, a time to reflect on achievements of the past months as we get ready for the new year.

We have much to be grateful for here in Lexington Two.

Our district ranks among the top 10 SC public school districts earning the highest average scores on the SAT college-entrance exam, outperforming state and national averages. We are the first district to partner with Midlands Technical College on a new career pathways program for dual enrollment or exemption credit in specific academic/career fields; this joins our popular Early College partnership with Midlands Tech.  Lexington Two is among only 15 districts statewide selected for the eLearning pilot program; our first day on November 11 was a success. Four of our schools earned Palmetto Silver recognition in the most recently released awards.

I am grateful to those who contribute every day to our students’ successes -- parents who entrust us with their children; Lexington County businesses, churches and community groups that invest in our schools; citizens and civic leaders who have made our building program possible; and educators who help students dream and achieve. I am grateful, too, that our students pay these gifts forward to help our community, by holding food and clothing drives, raising thousands for local charities, and giving time to important causes.

On behalf of our nearly 9,000 students and 1,260 employees, I wish you a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. Be safe, and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.
